What is Laser-BodySculpture?
Laser-BodySculpture or Smartlipo MPX Bodyculpture is a procedure, that combines the best of two worlds:
The fat disruption and skin tightening power of Smartlipo MPX™ meets the precision and immediate results of Power Assisted Liposculpture.
Smarlipo MPX™ uses two lasers. The shorter wavelength laser disrupts a broad region of adipose tissue while heating the treated areas evenly. It also mediates blood vessel coagulation enhancing hemostasis.
The longer wavelength laser scatters minimally and is robustly absorbed by the water in the tissue located near the laser tip. The combination of the two wavelengths creates a blended thermal and photomechanical effect that efficiently liquefies fat and tightens skin through collagen remodeling.
Power Assisted Liposculpture or PAL is used for fine-sculpting of the subcutaneous fat layer (eg. to create a “six-pack” appearance). It also allows to quickly remove the unnecessary disrupted fat to produce the instant slimming effect our patients love.

Laser-BodySculpture for double Chins & Jowls

Fat accumulation occurs easily in some people beneath the jaw line. This localized dyslipotrophy or fat accumulation is often referred to as a “double chin.” This is a common cosmetic complaint.
Laser-BodySculpture -Awake tumescent laser assisted liposuction with Smartlipo™ is the safest and most effective technique for removing fat from the chin, jowls and neck areas. Laser assisted liposuction involves fewer complications and scars, and it avoids the dangers of general anesthesia.
Typically, patients experience a rapid recovery, incur lower costs, and they have a more natural appearance to their face compared to a facelift.
The submental region or chin area includes the area below the margin of the jaw, and extends onto the front of the neck. Regardless of one’s age, an inherited localized collection of excess fat beneath the chin makes one look chubby, older and less athletic. Laser-BodySculpture is usually the simplest, safest, and least expensive way to treat this cosmetic problem.
Jowls represent a small focal accumulation of fat on the lower cheek overlying the jawbone. Prominent jowls make a person look old and are a cosmetic concern for both women and men. Accumulated fat in the jowls is best treated by tumescent Smartlipo™ followed by Power Assisted Liposculpture.
The tiny incisions used for Laser-BodySculpture of the neck and face do not require sutures and patients can return to their everyday activities the day after surgery.

Laser-BodySculpture for Upper Arms and Axilla

The cosmetic and aesthetic goals of Smartlipo™ on the arms is to produce a proportionate appearance of the arms, rather than removal of all fat from the arms. It typically requires removal of the fat from the posterior or back part of deep subcutaneous fat compartment of the triceps and biceps muscles. The volar or inner part of the arms is primary void of fat and it contains important neurovascular structures, thus we try and avoid doing surgery on this part of the arm.

Tumescent Smartlipoo MPX and PAL of the arms using microcannulas typically provides excellent cosmetic results. Excision of skin from the arm is now not necessary, because using microcannula gives well proportioned results without visible surgical scars.
As with all cases using laser-assisted lipolysis with Smartlipo™ and PAL, patients typically see results immediately after surgery. But we expect the final end result of skin tightening and laser lipolysis to occur at four (4) to six (6) months after the surgical procedure.

Laser-BodiSculpture for Abdomen, Hips

The abdomen and love handles (hips) give the most dramatic change in your body. This is because this area of the body has the easiest recovery, most dramatic and pleasing aesthetic appearance, and it is a relatively safe area.
The final cosmetic or surgical goal is to produce an aesthetic improvement and a natural flat abdomen.
There is no restriction on postoperative physical activity. Patients are advised not to remain in bed, but rather to walk about inside their home or leave their home for a short walk on the evening of the surgery. The patient can shower at least once or twice daily beginning the morning after the day of surgery.

It is important to recognize that immediately after surgery you will notice a reduction in your abdomen and hips. But we observe the maximal skin tightening and loss of fat after four (4) to six (6) months. During this time period we encourage to be patient and to be involved in a routine diet, weight loss, and exercise program. A history of previous liposuction increases the concern of the surgeon because of scaring or fibrosis is a result of healing from the previous liposuction surgery. A previous liposuction is not a contraindication to a second procedure, but it just requires the surgeon to be extra cautious because of fibrosis. Smartlipo™ is the best technique in those patients who are unhappy with their original traditional liposuction and who want more skin tightening and smooth skin texture.

Ankles, Knees, Inner & Outer Thighs

The distribution and proportion of fat on the lower extremities is genetically predetermined. Despite aggressive exercise and weight reduction, a disproportionate and unpleasant distribution of fat remains. This is why so many clients want Smartlipo™ on their thighs (inner and outer) and knees.
There are two types of position distortions of fat on the thigh. One type is a focal fat bulge caused by the underlying part of the bone, called the Trochanteric Tubercle. This type of distortion is called a “trochanteric pseudobulge.” The second distortion occurs from stretching the subcutaneous fat, referred to as “topological lipowarp.” Although these are technical issues, these two types of distortions are important because intra operatively the surgeon can become overly aggressive and cause excessive fat removal causing a “Lipotrop.” A Lipotrop is a cosmetically undesirable depression of the lateral thigh a result of excessive liposuction of the pseudobulge.

We encourage patients to walk immediately after surgery and during the first few days after surgery. Walking encourages drainage and reduces swelling. Early ambulation and exercise after surgery also reduces the risks of blood clots and pulmonary embolus.

Smartlipo MPX Bodyculpture procedure at is easier and safer than traditional liposuction. First, a local, sterile anesthetic is used to numb the area. Then, a laser is used to gently melt the fat directly under the skin and to encourage skin-tightening. Incisions are then placed in the folds of the buttocks just above the thigh, allowing the doctor to remove excess fat. The cannula used to remove the fat is only about 2,5 or 3mm wide – slow, gentle movements mean less pain, less bruising, and a rapid recovery time for patients. Smartlipo MPX heats collagen in the fat tissue, reorganization of the reticular dermis and skin retraction due to collagen neoformation. The Smartlipo MPX uses sequential 1064nm and 1320nm laser wavelengths to achieve maximum liquefaction of fat and coagulates tissue to cause skin tightening. The absorptive properties of these two blended wavelengths, creates a thermal and photomechanical effect which carefully targets the fatty tissue as well as gently heats the dermal layers to remodel collagen. The achieved result is often enough to eliminate the need for skin tightening surgery.
